What's in the Ultimate School Label Pack — All 134 Labels Explained

The Ultimate School Label Pack has 134 waterproof name labels in it. That number is intentional — it's not a round number that sounds good in marketing copy, it's the actual count of surfaces a typical K–8 student needs labeled for a full school year. This post breaks down every label type in the pack, what each one is for, and why the quantities are what they are. All 134 are waterproof labels for school supplies — dishwasher safe, microwave safe, and fade resistant.

If you've ever looked at a school label pack and wondered whether you really need 43 small round labels, or what the pencil labels actually stick to, or why there's one large round sticker in the pack — this is where you find out. By the end you'll know exactly what's in the pack, what it covers, and what you'll need to order separately to complete your back to school labeling setup before August. These are the kid labels for school, name labels for school, and name stickers for school that families order every year starting in June.

8 Large Rectangle Labels — Lunchbox, Backpack, Large Containers

Eight large rectangles is the right count for the biggest, most visible surfaces in a school kit. A typical setup uses them on the lunchbox exterior (the most important label in the whole pack — this is what a teacher or cafeteria worker reads first), the backpack labels for the exterior tag, a large drink container or thermos, and any oversized item that needs a clearly readable label from a distance. Labels for backpacks at this size are the ones that get read most often by adults who aren't your child's regular teacher — lunch supervisors, substitute teachers, field trip chaperones.

Eight is enough for most students — a lunchbox, a backpack, a thermos or large container, and a few extras for items you didn't anticipate needing labeled until you started. For preschoolers who need name tags for school supplies like the blanket carrying bag and nap mat bag, those extra large rectangles are where those labels come from.

34 Slim Rectangle Labels — Water Bottle Body, Containers, Pencil Case

Thirty-four slim rectangles is the largest label group in the pack for good reason — slim rectangles are the most versatile label in the kit. They go on the body of every water bottle your child takes to school, on the medium-sized containers inside the lunchbox, on the pencil case, on folders and notebooks, and on any item that needs a name label but isn't large enough for the big rectangle.

The water bottle is where most of these go first. A typical student has one primary water bottle for school and a separate sports bottle or thermos — that's two slim rectangle labels already. Add three or four lunchbox containers, the pencil case, and a couple of folders, and the 34 slim rectangles cover an entire school year's worth of that size surface without running out.

32 Extra Small Rectangle Labels — Small Supplies, Calculator, Scissors

Thirty-two extra small rectangles handle the surfaces that are too small for a slim rectangle — the calculator, the scissors, the ruler, the stapler, individual art supply items, and small personal care items for younger children. At preschool and early elementary age these go on every small supply that comes out of the pencil case and ends up on a shared table. At middle and high school they go on the calculator and the high-value small items that travel between classes in shared spaces.

The extra small rectangle is sized to fit on surfaces where a larger label would overlap edges and peel — it's the precision label in the kit for everything that falls between the slim rectangle and the pencil label in size.

12 Pencil Labels — Pencils, Pens, Markers, Crayons

Twelve dedicated pencil labels cover the barrel of every pencil, pen, marker, and crayon going to school. These are sized specifically for narrow cylindrical surfaces — standard labels are too wide for a pencil barrel and peel immediately. Pencil labels wrap cleanly around the barrel and hold through the daily handling of a school year.

Twelve covers a full pencil case comprehensively. If your child also takes a large art supply set or a full set of colored pencils and markers, the standalone pack of 90 pencil labels is available separately and can supplement the pack's included 12. For most standard school setups — a box of pencils, a few markers, a highlighter — 12 is the right count.

43 Small Rounds + 2 Medium Rounds + 1 Large Round — Lids, Ice Packs, Flat Surfaces

43 Small Round labels

The small round is the lid label — the most important label in the pack that most families underuse. Every water bottle lid needs its own label because lids separate from bottles in dishwashers, school bags, and on cafeteria tables. An unlabeled lid is a lost lid. With multiple bottles, multiple lunchbox containers with round lids, and ice packs to label, 43 small rounds covers a full school year's worth of circular surfaces. Apply them the same way as every waterproof label: alcohol prep the smooth surface, press firmly, 24-hour cure before first dishwasher cycle.

2 Medium Round labels

Two medium rounds handle the larger lid surfaces — thermos tops, wide-mouth water bottle lids, and larger round container covers. Most school kits have one or two surfaces that need the medium round rather than the small. Having two in the pack covers the standard setup without excess.

1 Large Round label

One large round at 3 inches diameter is the standout label in the pack — bold, visible, and designed for the inside of the backpack main compartment where a contact label or large name sticker works as a recovery label for any adult who finds a lost bag. At preschool age it also goes on the nap mat, blanket, or any large flat circular surface that needs a label big enough to read immediately.

Your Choice — 2 Contact Labels or 4 Additional Labels

At checkout every Ultimate School Label Pack order includes your choice of two options:

Option A — 2 Contact Labels

Two square contact labels — each includes your child's name and a phone number. Goes inside the backpack, inside the lunchbox, or on any item where a parent contact number alongside the name adds a recovery layer. Teachers specifically ask for a contact label inside the backpack at preschool and early elementary age.

Option B — 4 Additional Labels

2 Large Rectangle labels and 2 Slim Rectangle labels — extra volume for the two most-used sizes. The right choice for families with more large and medium surfaces to cover, or for students with a particularly full supply kit. Also useful for families whose older children need more large rectangle labels for binders, large containers, and equipment bags.

Which to choose: Preschool and elementary students — contact labels. The phone number inside the backpack is a teacher-requested safety layer at this age. Middle school and high school — additional labels if your child has a lot of large surfaces to cover. Contact labels if you want the phone number recovery option on high-value bags.

What's Not Included — And What to Order Separately

The Ultimate School Label Pack covers every waterproof school supply label for every hard surface in a school kit. Three categories are not included and need to be ordered separately for complete school labeling coverage:

Iron-on clothing labels — school uniforms and PE kit

Permanently bonded into iron-safe fabric. Cotton setting, no steam, 60–90 second press-and-lift, 24-hour cure. For school uniforms, PE kit, and any iron-safe clothing going through regular washing. Ordered separately — pairs perfectly with the Ultimate Pack for complete school coverage.

Stick-on clothing labels — jackets and non-iron-safe clothing

Applied to care tags — peel and press, no tools, machine washable. For jackets, hoodies, and non-iron-safe clothing. Ordered separately — pairs with the Ultimate Pack for complete coverage including outerwear.

Additional pencil labels — for large art supply sets

The pack includes 12 pencil labels — enough for a standard pencil case. If your child takes a large set of colored pencils, a full marker set, or a comprehensive art kit, our standalone pencil label pack of 90 labels covers the additional narrow barrel surfaces. Ordered separately.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many labels are in the Ultimate School Label Pack?

134 waterproof name labels — 8 Large Rectangle, 34 Slim Rectangle, 32 Extra Small Rectangle, 12 Pencil Labels, 43 Small Round, 2 Medium Round, 1 Large Round, plus your choice of 2 Contact Labels or 4 Additional Labels. All 134 labels are waterproof, dishwasher-safe, and fade-resistant. No clothing labels are included — iron-on and stick-on clothing labels are ordered separately.

Why are there 43 small round labels in the Ultimate School Label Pack?

Because water bottle lids, lunchbox container lids, and ice packs add up fast — and most families have more than one of each. A typical school kit has at least one water bottle with a separate lid, three to five lunchbox containers each with their own lid, two or three ice packs, and various other small round surfaces. Across a full school year, having 43 small rounds means never running out mid-year when you add a new container or a replacement water bottle needs its lid labeled.

Does the Ultimate School Label Pack include clothing labels?

No — the Ultimate School Label Pack contains waterproof school labels for school supplies only. Clothing labels are ordered separately. Our iron-on clothing labels for uniforms and PE kit pair with the Ultimate Pack for complete school labeling coverage.

What are the contact labels in the Ultimate School Label Pack?

Contact labels include your child's name plus a phone number — designed for inside the backpack, inside the lunchbox, or any item where adult contact information alongside the name adds a recovery layer. At preschool and early elementary age, teachers specifically ask families to include a contact label inside the backpack in addition to the name stickers for school on the outside. You can choose contact labels instead of the 4 additional standard labels as your bonus option at checkout.

Is the Ultimate School Label Pack enough for the whole school year?

Yes — for a single child. The label counts are calibrated for a full school year of standard school supply surfaces for one student. For two children, the pack can be split at no extra charge (type "Split" in the name field, list both names in Special Request), which gives approximately 67 labels per child — similar to the School Essentials Pack. For comprehensive coverage of two children, two packs (one per child) is the most complete option.

Which school label pack is right for older students?

Our School Essentials Label Pack (67 waterproof labels) is designed for grade 5 through high school — the right volume for selective labeling of the water bottle, backpack, calculator, pencils, and most-used supplies, without the comprehensive volume needed at younger ages. The Ultimate Pack (134 labels) is still a good choice for older students who have a lot of supplies, a sports kit, or specialist equipment to label.

When should I order the Ultimate School Label Pack?

June or July — school starts in August and all waterproof labels need 24 hours to cure before the first dishwasher cycle. Ordering in June means running one labeling session in July with every label fully bonded before August. Back to school label orders spike in August and late orders regularly arrive after the first day. The Ultimate School Label Pack is available year-round — shop early for the best design selection.
